Devon Alexander is a 15 year-old teenager coping with the monotonous reality of his average life. His life receives an interesting reprieve as he has his first realistic dream of a spaceship. The strangest thing about the dream is that he seems to be the only one on board who isn’t in a dream-like trance. Before he can figure out anything about the dream or his strange shipmates, he manages to wake up. The next day, Devon catches a news story about inexplicable comas taking place all over the world. Devon’s life becomes increasingly interesting as he recognizes some of the victims from his spaceship trip.
Devon and an unlikely group of other teens start devising a plan to find out who is behind the strange dreams and the comas. Their plan is not only successful but immerses them in to the fantastical world that only resides in dreams. While in the dream world, the teens learn about the power of teamwork, a new world of culture, and their hidden potential to be heroes.
Suspenseful, funny at the worst times, and just a hint of teenage romance, Lucid takes a group of young adults and throws them into a fantasy world that they only thought could exist in their dreams. In a sense, they’re right.

It was a little slow to start for me, as I felt that the second part should have come sooner. However, it is action-packed and intriguing. I like how the information unfolds, revealing more clues and magic. I enjoyed reading about Devon coming into his own and gaining confidence. This book sucks you in from the first page. The main character, a teen boy named Devon, has a realistic voice and he's very likeable. The story has a lot of intrigue,which kept me reading. I liked the fact that although it was a fantasy novel, it had a very real and very contemporary feel to it. I checked the author's site and it looks like there's a sequel planned!
LUCID by L. E. Fred
This is a young adult fantasy book that is fresh. I read a lot of fantasy, and after a while, certain fantasy books blend together. They feel as if they were all the same story, but with different character names. LUCID feels totally new.
Other than the world and adventure, you’ll be rooting for Devon. He definitely comes of age. You’ll watch him grow mentally and physically. I found it cool that the story is told from a boy’s point of view. Most of the fantasy books I’ve read that are geared toward young adults involve a girl.
Be warned the book doesn’t really end. It will leave you wanting the sequel.

The anticipation of what was going to happen next made it such a thrilling read. Can't wait for the sequel. Highly recommend for all the dreamers.
Great book. Rich story line and a complex entertaining plot. L.E.Fred is a stellar writer.
The author creates a unique vision of a dream world --there is action, attraction, beauty and conflict. You will fall in love with these ordinary characters who dare to be extraordinary dreamers!
I don't usually like fantasy books, but Lucid was a pleasant surprise. The characters were interesting and had a lot of personality. The story flowed very well and I enjoyed the world the author L.E Fred created. It was a quick read and I felt like the story held me.
(Spoiler) I was surprised by the cliffhanger ending and wasn't ready for it to be over. Can't wait for the second book to come out.
